We believe that Emotional Intelligence can meaningfully improve people’s lives, and that the biggest impact will happen when everyone can access it. That’s why SHFT Happens is excited to support individuals, organizations and nonprofits that are using the power of EI to empower themselves and address social challenges.
We’ve tested multiple tools and have shortlisted EQ-i 2.0 as our go-to framework for developing EQ skills based on its validity and reliability.
EQ-i 2.0 is a Level B Psychometric assessment based on the research of Dr. Reuven Bar-On. It is one of the most reliable, valid and highly researched EQ assessment tools in the world. It is used in forensics, is the 1st medically and scientifically validated assessment.
EQ 360 Multi-Rater Assessment
This inventory measures the same fifteen EQ competencies as the EQ-i 2.o but combines your own perceptions of your EQ with the perceptions of others.
Emotional Intelligence provides critical insights into the way we see ourselves, relate to others, make decisions and manage stress. In fact, it’s one of the single largest factors differentiating the best performers from the rest.
The EQ-i 2.0 provides you with a picture of how you operate emotionally, your areas of strength and potential areas for development. There are many ways to develop your EQ competencies (see the one-day bootcamp, “Leading with Emotional Intelligence”, which immediately follows each certification course).
The Emotional Quotient Inventory (EQ-i 2.0) is the world’s leading assessment tool used for assessing emotional and social intelligence and an excellent way to understand the emotional competencies of an individual. It is a ‘self-rater’ instrument, versus the multi-rater EQ 360.
Personality typing, think of MBTI, the Colors Personality, the Enneagram refer to preferences. Emotional Intelligence refers to behaviour. And whilst preferences dictate some of our behaviours, personality assessments don’t measure behaviour. The right Emotional Intelligence tools do. Preferences are like glasses. You can put them on and off. Behaviours are part of your anatomy – like eye sight. Preferences can be changed. Behaviours are hardwired and much harder to change.
EQ-i 2.0 and the multi-rater EQ 360 can be administered only by qualified psychologists and certified practitioners.
The assessment tool is delivered online, using a secure site and involves responding to 133 statements, taking approximately twenty minutes to complete.
Once completed, there are two report types to choose from: the Workplace Report and the Leadership Report, each providing scores in 15 competencies, grouped into five composite areas: Self-Perception, Self-Expression, Interpersonal, Decision Making and Stress Management.
The reports you receive provide a detailed analysis of your results.
For a more comprehensive picture of your EQ competencies, we highly recommend the EQ 360 multi-rater assessment tool.
